What is stored when you ask for the cheats?

What for?

To send you the link to the cheats. If you ticked news, we write rarely, for example when a new game arrives. Every news mail has an unsubscribe link. We do not pass on or sell the data.

And Prügelpause?

Whoever challenges somebody to Prügelpause on the PC in the hobby room enters their e-mail address. We use it to send exactly one mail with the link to the challenge. The address itself is not stored, only a one-way hash (against spam: at most three challenges per address and day) and a shortened form like "ke…@gmx.ch", so the challenger can see who it went to. Every challenge has a link that blocks all further ones to your address. For the game we store your fighting name, your fighter, your fights and, only if you enter it yourself, your e-mail address, so we can tell you when somebody hits back.

And in the workshop?

What you type on the laptop in the workshop (your game wish, or with /remix your wish for a game) is sent to OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C., USA) so that Codex can write a program from it. We store the wish and the program together with a random ID from your browser, so you can improve it with /fix and submit it with /save. To submit it we need your email address: we send you a link to confirm it, store it with the program and never show it anywhere. We only write to you when your program is approved. Your browser remembers the address for next time. Before approval OpenAI checks the program for malicious code. To keep bots out, Cloudflare Turnstile checks before writing and submitting whether a human is at the laptop; Cloudflare processes technical data of your browser and your IP address. The program only appears in the gallery after we approve it, and only with the name you enter yourself. What you type on the screen next to ELIZA also goes to OpenAI and is not stored by us. Against abuse we count requests per hour using an irreversible hash of your IP address. Please do not type personal data there.

The server rack in the workshop shows how many people are in which room right now and what they play. For this the page reports the room and the running game every 20 seconds, together with a random id that only lives in this browser tab. The server keeps it in memory and forgets it after one minute; none of it is stored.

Who helps?

Mails are sent by Resend (Resend, Inc., USA). The workshop texts are processed by OpenAI (see above), the bot check is done by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). The data is kept in a database on a Hetzner server in Germany.

How long?

Until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. A mail to [email protected] is enough and we delete your address completely.

Anything else?

Game progress and high scores are stored only in your browser (localStorage) and never leave it, except Prügelpause fights against real opponents.
